Bali Hosts ‘Coworking Indonesia’
From 24-28 February 2016, Coworking Unconference Asia will be descending upon the island of the gods for the second year in a row. Various events and sessions will explore how people can live, work and learn differently in this new collaborative economy that these growing communities advocate.
An event part of the “Unconference” is Coworking Indonesia, which will be held in Sanur’s Kumpul Coworking Space. It will be focusing specifically on the relatively new movement of coworking in Indonesia, seeing how it has and will influence the economy.
This year’s host venue is Kumpul (Indonesian for ‘gather’) Co-working Space in Sanur. Kumpul is a platform for freelancers, consultants and business owners to get connected and share ideas. It is a professional workspace with all the modern facilities of an office, a relaxed atmosphere, thriving community hub and event venue.
The organiser of the event is Hubud, short for Hub-in-Ubud, the first co-working space to open up on the island. With a large bamboo structure as its base, green Ubud views out of the windows and high-speed Internet, it brought in people needing a place to work. However, over time it grew into a community of people with mixed backgrounds who would work, connect and brainstorm. Now it holds think tanks and seminars to better people’s knowledge and to grow people’s businesses and start-ups.
Coworking Indonesia is set to bring a new wave of interest to Bali, bringing bright and creative people into the mix of the island’s very varied tourism industry. It is events such as these that help to stimulate a vibrant influx of people to the island.
